Biosynthesis of selenium nanoparticles with amplified bioactivity

(Nano-Bio-Sel)

Nucleu Programme 2018

Project Responsible: PhD. chem. Diana CONSTANTINESCU-ARUXANDEI

Key person: PhD. habil. biochem. Florin OANCEA

The aim of project Nano-Bio-Sel is to obtain selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) bio-synthesized by microorganisms, especially filamentous micromycetes which are beneficial to plants, with possible applications in agronomical biofortification.

The main Objective is the investigation of SeNP biosynthesis in order to develop a bionanotechnology for obtaining biogenic  SeNPs with high biostimulant activity, by using microorganisms.

The specific objectives of Nano-Bio-Sel are:

  • SeNP biosynthesis by selected microorganism strains;
  • Characterization of biosynthesized SeNPs to be used as treatment for cultivated plants;
  • Testing the biological activity of SeNPs.
