The National Institute for Research & Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry – ICECHIM Bucharest is one of the major research entities in Romania, being involved in all fields of chemistry. Thus, it was necessary to be organized in a modern, matrix-type structure, composed of research teams (operating within the research departments).

The Călărași Branch of INCDCP-ICECHIM was established in 2015 as an entity with legal personality within INCDCP-ICECHIM. The activity of the Branch is mainly focused on the field of circular bioeconomy having as main research objective the promotion and development of new technologies for the superior capitalization of bioresources. It is also addressed to farmers, small and medium-sized enterprises, but also to utility operators (treatment plants, waste management), in order to apply the results of research in their fields of activity.

INCDCP-ICECHIM has opened a working point on the platform of the Research Institute for Organic Auxiliary Products (ICPAO) Mediaș.

The management of the national institute belongs to the Administration board, composed of 7 members.
