Description

NeXT-Chem V

We are delighted to invite you to take part to the fifth edition of the exploratory workshop NeXT-Chem: Innovative cross-sectoral technologies, hosted between 22nd & 23rd

of May 2023 by the National Institute for Research & Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry – ICECHIM Bucharest.

Located at the heart of Bucharest’s largest chemical cluster, ICECHIM boosts promising innovations to create the chemistry of the future and aligns its focus areas with the Romanian National Strategy for Research, Innovation and Smart Specialization 2022-2027 by unveiling applications for bio-based materials, making products more reusable and recyclable within a circular economy by engaging novel technologies, developing innovative materials for cultural heritage conservation and environmental protection, as well as tapping on new approaches to sustainable chemistry as the leading 21st century industry and driver of the local circular economy. Our hallmark Exploratory Workshop for Young Researchers – NeXT-Chem offers the ideal formula for ambitious Master and PhD students to prosper within a truly unique innovative ecosystem and participation is free of charge.

Over the past editions of NeXT-Chem, ICECHIM has nurtured a sustainable community of scientists and researchers who are committed to solve societal challenges and develop sustainable innovations for the chemistry of tomorrow.

This high-quality hybrid event – on-line and on the premises – aims at providing insights into chemical research and discuss the chemical sciences and their applications, as well as transversal approaches towards green chemistry.

On this occasion, distinguished international scholars will deliver invited lectures, amongst whom (in alphabetical order):

  • Fei Gao, Professor, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences, University of Michigan, “Multiscale Computer Simulation of Nano-scale Phenomena Under Ion-Solid Interaction”.
  • Liviu Popa-Simil, Ph.D., President LAVM LLC, “Novel engineered micro-nano hetero structures potential improvements of the nuclear fuel cycle”;
  • Lumin Wang, Professor, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Michigan, “Electron microscopy study of ion beam induced nanostructure patterns”;

The workshop will feature the following sections:
