Tech Talks - Meet the mentors!

The First Step in Technology Transfer: Industrial Property Protection

On the occasion of its 22nd edition, PRIOCHEM continues the series of events dedicated to young researchers (and beyond) through the concept successfully introduced during the previous editions.

Tech Talks – Meet the Mentors! provides an exciting opportunity for young researchers and students to interact with renowned scientists and experts from various scientific and technological fields, the mentors of today and tomorrow, while discovering current and emerging research areas of global interest. The event aims to inspire and support the development of a new generation of researchers.

Technology transfer represents one of the main pathways through which research results generate economic value and societal impact. However, before an idea, a technology, or a scientific outcome can be transferred to industry, commercialized, or integrated into innovation processes, an essential first step must be taken: ensuring adequate intellectual property protection.

As part of the third edition of Tech Talks – Meet the Mentors!, co-organized in partnership with the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM), participants will have the opportunity to explore the role of industrial property in the valorization of research results and to understand how patents, trademarks, and other protection instruments contribute to strengthening organizational competitiveness and fostering a knowledge-based economy.

The event is addressed to young researchers, PhD candidates, students, and professionals working in research, development, and innovation who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the relationship between scientific research and the mechanisms that transform knowledge into solutions with economic value. Through presentations and direct interaction with OSIM experts, participants will gain insights into the protection of research outcomes, the development and protection of organizational identity, as well as current trends in inventive activity and industrial property in Romania.

The session will highlight the importance of integrating intellectual property considerations from the earliest stages of research and innovation activities, providing practical examples and recommendations for early-career researchers as well as for those interested in technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and collaboration with industry.

Through this initiative, PRIOCHEM Tech Talks seeks to contribute to the development of a culture of innovation and research valorization by promoting dialogue between the scientific community and specialists involved in the protection and management of industrial property rights. Participants will gain a better understanding of how industrial property protection can become the first step in transforming research into a driver of economic development and societal progress.

Confirmed participants:

  • Adriana Aldescu, Head of Preliminary Examination Service, National Patent Administration - Procedure for Obtaining Protection for a Technical Solution
  • Mariana Hahue, Expert, Public Relations and Industrial Property Applications Department - Trademark and Organizational Reputation – Building a Strong Identity and the Benefits of Protection at National and European Level
  • Daniela-Idboio Dragomir, Expert, Industrial Property Communication and Promotion Department
  • Marina Voiculescu, Expert, Industrial Property Communication and Promotion Department
